Crafts & Hobbies

I read the info on zines and it just did not interest me at all :( to be honest, i will not be making a zine. i looked at a couple of self published zines. the one by the Lower East Side Librarian was interesting to look at, but not something i would do.
As far as zines in the library, if this is something an individual or a group would like to do, they should feel free and go for it. but as for me, no thanks.

Crafts & Hobbies

I used Scrapbook Flair. I downloaded the software and had a ball working with it. This was really fun. We had a family reunion on the 4th of July and i used photos from that to make a scrapbook. At first I had a problem getting the right color and design, but I finally figured it out. was not as much fun, most things called for points, so I left that site, the video was pretty good.
Scrapbook Factory Deluxe is something I am looking into buying.

Crafts & Hobbies

the craft site i found interesting was One Hour Craft. this site interested me because it also had recipes!!! the first tutorial i did was for the Bath Tub Bomb, this was a really colorful idea for the bathroom r a gift basket for someone. i really like lavender scented things, i may try making these. next if went to the recipe for the Berry Smothie, this was the typical smoothie recipe, but i am going to print it out anyway and make :) the cupcake tutorial was really good. i like the really detailed instructions and the site is very colorful.
next i went to Instructables site. this site i really liked, the green section caught my eye. i am going to join the seed swapping group, i love to garden and there r some really good discussions going on at this site and a lot of info. this site is going in my favorites!
in multimedia i went to the CraftsChannel, not very interesting, i am not into crafts. the video i watched kept stopping, so i lost interest in what they were making, some kind of 3-fold envelope for pictures and notecards.

Recession Buster recipe

Tuna, Macaroni, and Cheese Casserole
"mmmm, that's some good eatin'" a friend once said. This recipe is an updated version of the WWII era classic!

4 cups of cooked macaroni
3 tablespoons of butter
1 teaspoon of minced onion
3 tablespoons of flour
3 cups of milk
dash of Worcestershire sauce
14 ounces of water packed tuna
1 cup of grated American cheese
4 pieces of bacon
salt and pepper

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.

First, in a small saucepan on medium low heat, melt the butter and add the onion. Then whisk in the flour and gradually add the milk, whisking. Cook until thick and smooth, occasionally stirring. Then, add the Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper.

Now, grease a baking dish and put in half the macaroni, half the cheese, and half the tuna fish. Then pour half the sauce over it. Repeat with the rest of the ingredients. Top the baking dish with the bacon and put in the oven. Bake for 30 minutes at 400 degrees.

Food, Fun & Frugality

One way to save money is to have a Pedicure Party. someone you know has a hot wax machine, a Dr. Scholls foot massager, cottonballs, nail files, pumice stones and lotion. everyone brings what they have and a group of friends gets together and have a Pedicure party, saves money and you get to have fun with your girlfriends and get a really cheap pedicure or manicure, whichever one you want. saw this on one of the cable channels.
also when going to the movies, the cheapest time to go is during the weekend at AMC theaters. the first showings on friday, saturday and sunday are $5.00. this is really the best time to go, the theater is clean, not many people, the popcorn is really fresh and hot. the $5.00 applies to all movies except I-MAX.
a neat way to save money is the $5.00 bill program. everytime you get a $5.00 bill you save it. place it in a box , can or a designated place. the key to this is to go to the bank on payday and get some cash out to use for buying gas, going out to eat r to the store. when u get a $5.00 in change keep it. the $5.00 bills can add up pretty fast. from dec. -june, i have saved $475.00. another thing with this is u always have cash in the house, if you need it.
